Pedestrian excursion across historical center of St. Petersburg. Visit of Peter and Paul Cathedral and the Peter and Paul Fortress which is a historical heart of the city. It is situated on the Hare Island. Fortress was built in May, 1703 according to the plan which was developed by Peter the Great. The Peter and Paul Fortress was planned as defensive construction, however this fortress never carried out defensive functions. You will see Ensemble of the Peter and Paul Fortress — Commandant’s and Engineering houses, Artillery house, the Mint, the Main treasury, the Boat lodge, a guardroom and other historical buildings and constructions. Special attention is devoted to Peter and Paul Cathedral. Peter and Paul Cathedral is an orthodox cathedral of St. Petersburg which is situated in the Peter and Paul Fortress. It is the tomb of the Russian emperors, a historical monument of architecture of the period of baroque, the first cathedral in St. Petersburg. Up to 2012 the cathedral with a spike 122,5 m high remained the highest construction of St. Petersburg. But since 2013 it is only the 3rd according to its height, after the 140th skyscraper «The Leader Tower» and the 124th «Prince Alexander Nevsky» complex.
